Fossil O-Ring Necklace

Fossil O-Ring Necklace

550.00

Focal work with O-rings and fossil measures 7.5 x 5 inches, on an 18-inch rubber cord. Necklace hangs to about 11 inches from base of throat when worn.

Rubber O-rings, brass wire and S-clasp, Japanese glass beads and vintage German glass cube beads. Featuring a fossilized walrus ivory harpoon remnant. Look closely and you’ll see scrimshaw tracery on the fossil. Wirework and circular brick stitch. One of a kind.

Scrimshaw was a craft used by Inuit Indians and other whaling cultures, carving patterns into the materials from which they got sustenance and commerce. The pieces I use are already on the market and very old. They do not propagate ivory hunting.
